My name is Safiya Robinson. Formerly, Safiya Dillahunt.This year will be amazing! I married my best friend of eleven years on November 29, 2014. I am now Mrs. Robinson!!! Yayy!!We have been together 12 years. I am going to give you some information about my experiences and my family so that you can know a little bit more information rather than my name. I have been teaching at Conn for 10 years and also completed my student teaching internship here as well. I have a beautiful daughter named Ashanti who is a junior at East Carolina University this year. She is majoring in Forensic Science. Pirate Nation!! I also have 3 wonderful step children, who I am blessed to be able to be apart of their lives. I have two dogs named Sasi and Coco that keeps us busy and filled with laughter. My husband and I are expecting twins that will be here by December 7th. I am the baby out of three girls . I come from a family of educators: my mother, grandfather, niece and cousin were all employed at a public school. As a child I lived in Wake County. As a child I began gymnastics at age 4. I competed in Elite gymnastics competitions until I was sixteen. In high school, I was a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad my entire 4 years. Teaching is my second career. Prior to teaching I was a licensed cosmetologist.
My husband and I love spending time at various tracks around the triad. He is on a motorcycle racing team and owns a drag racing car. I also enjoy reading, traveling, eating seafood, visiting the beach, and spending time with friends and family. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from North Carolina Central University. I also received my Master's Degree in Reading from Grand Canyon University. This year will be packed with active learning, lots of new literacy strategies and math problem solving.
